Shaw School Council

Meeting Minutes

The children value their school highly and enjoy having a say in decision making.. Their input represents an important element in the running of the school. Children may notice issues that teachers may not be aware of and their contribution helps the school improve.

The School Council is the voice of the children. For example they are involved in discussions about recycling, behaviour, awards and considerations like playground and school grounds improvements and systems for organising playtimes.

Each class from Year 1 to Year 6 has a Class Council that meets regularly. This is a whole class meeting that discusses class and school issues. Key Issues from these meetings are taken to the School Council for discussion. Each class votes in school councillors. There are two councillors from each year group.
